Mickey Reed
(she/her)
Spiritual Director, Retreat and Workshop Leader
Mickey has honed deep listening skills in her professional careers as a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Certified Occupational Therapist, and a Professor of Occupational Therapy. She maintains that the most important offering to all her careers has been being able to be actively and deeply present for others.
In addition to holding a B.S. in Creative Therapeutic Environments, and Master’s degrees in both Counseling and Occupational Therapy, she is a graduate of The Listening Place Spiritual Direction Program established by S.r Johanna Walsh F.C.J. and directed by the late Mary Grace McCoy of Durham, North Carolina.
Mickey frequently leads workshops and retreats focusing on a variety of topics centering around soulful living and spiritual practices in everyday life. She particularly enjoys walking with people as they explore their own soul journey through the arts and nature.
Mickey’s own spiritual formation began in the 1980’s when she spent time discerning a religious vocation with the Sisters of Bon Secours of Baltimore, Maryland. Her relationship with the community has evolved through the years and she is currently part of the Sisters Associate program. Their guiding mission to “Be Good Help to those in need” is foundational to her current ministries in food justice , community building, spiritual direction and retreat work.
Mickey trained with Sister Joyce Rupp O.S.M. and is a designated facilitator of Boundless Compassion Workshops .
She is also certified as a SoulCollage© facilitator and regularly leads sessions for small groups using this Jungian based method of exploring inner wisdom as the basis for self reflection, prayer and journaling.
